Two Ten Foundation Reports Dramatic Increase in Calls for Assistance
March Busiest Month in Foundation History (With The Exception of Hurricane Katrina)
April 13, 2010, Waltham, MA Two Ten Footwear Foundation (Two Ten) announced today that March 2010 was their busiest month ever (with the exception of Hurricane Katrina) for Support Services. In March 2010, Two Ten provided assistance to 114 Shoepeople, compared to 41 people in March 2009 - a 278% increase. Additionally, Two Ten saw an increase in financial need, distributing $188,246 in March, which is an increase of 347% from March 2009.
Two Ten President, Peggy Kim Meill said, "The economy is getting better, but people are still struggling despite the upswing. The industry is getting used to a new norm which may include longer periods of unemployment or underemployment. Two Ten is here to help and the Board and Staff remain committed to those in need during these difficult times."
Two Ten Support Services are at the heart of the organization. It includes Financial Assistance, Counseling and Community Resources.
