Shoe people come together in big and bold ways, and last week’s FFaNY Shoe Expo was a perfect example as the footwear industry once again proved that we are an engaged, united and caring community.
The FN Summit brought together the industry’s biggest and brightest to discuss leading in challenging times, while brilliant panelists addressed the Two Ten HR Leadership Summit on the many facets of employee engagement and it’s impact on the bottom line. At the Two Ten 2016 VIP Dinner & Gala kick off meeting, in a matter of minutes eight donors committed $1M to underwrite the event — which is the primary source of funding for Two Ten’s Common Good Fund that supports thousands of shoe people annually when personal crisis strikes. The FFaNY Industry Party was a fun and lively celebration of our industry, with proceeds benefitting our new and vitally important Two Ten Cancer Care Fund. Over at the Hearst building, 150 women in the Two Ten WIFI organization gathered to experience The Next Big Thing conversation series, followed by the Accessories Council honoring Michael Atmore with the 2016 Hall of Fame Award.
As we reflect on an incredible market week of events, activities and, of course, conducting important business, we cannot overlook the recent tragedy in Orlando and the intent to upend the spirit of community. But rising above the unspeakable horror, our friends at Aldo are continuing their commitment to doing good by Racing Across America in a coast-to-coast, four-man cycling team effort to raise money for the Two Ten Cancer Care Fund. Please join us in following their progress and cheering them on in this incredible feat!
Community rising, indeed.
