If you don’t know about Pensole Footwear Design Academy, then you need to pick your head up from your daily spin cycle and have a look-round every once in a while. Future footwear leaders are taking advantage of the unique opportunities available now, giving them the skills they’ll need to make their mark in an increasingly competitive industry.
“Young professionals represent the future of our industry and our CAPSOLES offer the specific industry insight, knowledge and inspiration that up-and-coming footwear professionals need to prepare for new roles and become future leaders,” said D’Wayne Edwards, a former design director for Jordan Brand who founded Pensole to give talented young design students an opportunity to learn from the industry’s best.
This year, a partnership with FN Platform will bring Pensole’s CAPSOLES to the industry’s largest trade show, making the classes available to footwear designers, material designers, color designers, material developers, product developers, product managers and product merchandisers with zero to five years experience.
Two Ten is awarding two scholarships (Two Ten | LIFT Scholarship @ Pensole) to cover the cost of the classes so there is no excuse for missing out on this opportunity. “The best way to build a strong footwear industry is to develop our homegrown talent,” said Neal Newman, Two Ten’s president. “Pensole is an important partner with us in that endeavor by providing our industry with a farm system of creative young talent – the future creative leaders of our footwear community. Our Leaders in Footwear Tomorrow (LIFT) initiative will proudly support Pensole over the next few years.”
