Join your fellow colleagues in footwear for the WIFI Impact Awards! Awards will be given to three women in the industry for their professional and personal accomplishments.
WIFI Advancement Award:
This award will be given to a woman who has contributed to the advancement of women and female leaders in the industry. She is a trailblazer for women on her team, always searching for additional opportunities for career growth and development.
Group President, Chinese Laundry
Tsering started with Cels Enterprises in 1990 as the division head of Chinese Laundry. In her 20 + years with the company, she has managed a variety of brands within Cels & now oversees all brands in the company’s portfolio.
Throughout her 37 years in the Footwear Industry, Tsering has had experience in all facets of the business. Her retail career began as a buyer for stores such as JW Robinsons & Meier as well as Senior Footwear Buyer at Mainstream (a division of Federated Dept Stores.) Tsering’s wholesale career started in product design as a line builder with Candies, when Charlie Cole (father of Kenneth Cole) was still running the business. She has also held many management positions, starting at Consolidated Shoe Company as the President of Palladium and was appointed President of Pentland USA’s Fashion Footwear business overseeing six brands, including Franco Sarto.
In addition to her work at Chinese Laundry, Tsering is also very involved in mentoring other women in the Footwear industry. She served on the Two Ten Board for ten years, was part of the inception of WIFI, and is currently on the Board of Directors for FFANY.
WIFI Leadership Award
This award will go to a woman who has been in the industry for most of her career. She will be chosen for her leadership, passion, reputation and impact on the footwear industry.
SVP, Global Product
Kathy Kartalis is currently the Sr. Vice President of Global Product for Skechers. She is responsible for all product development, as well as production, sourcing, and quality. She was previously Vice President of Product Development.
Ms. Kartalis started at Skechers in 1993 as Children’s Product Line Manager, a position she held previously at L.A. Gear from 1990-1992.
From 1986-1990, Ms. Kartalis worked for B.B.C. International in New York, starting as a children’s line builder for character shoes. In 1988 she was put in charge of development and sourcing for the Osh Kosh licensed brand, as well as selling directly to Thom McAn, Sears, and Mervyn’s. From 1982-1986, Ms Kartalis worked for Venture Stores in St. Louis as the men’s/children’s assistant buyer.
WIFI Community Award:
This award will be given to a woman who has made an impact on the growth of WIFI. She regularly attends WIFI events and encourages other women at her company to get involved.
Co-Chair, WIFI Mentoring Program
Carol Goodhue is a veteran in the footwear industry with over 30 years’ experience in various wholesale, retail, and e-commerce roles. She is a future-focused executive recognized for strategic business leadership that has resulted in sales and profit growth across multiple brands and distribution channels. Carol is relentlessly focused on building “best-in-class” high-performance teams; uncovering key consumer insights; instilling a rigorous planning, execution and expansion mindset; and driving improved financial and operational performance.
Currently, Carol is a consultant for footwear companies such as Evolution Design Lab, and recently served as Vice President of Planning at Nine West Group. Prior to Nine West, she spent over 14 years at Aerosoles as the Senior Vice President of Wholesale where she was accountable for full P&L of the $91M wholesale division. She also held various strategic and business planning, sales, marketing, and process reengineering roles at Liz Claiborne Inc.
Carol is a member of the Board of Advisors for BWG Strategy, an invite-only network for senior executives across technology, media, and telecom as well as a member of the Two Ten Footwear Foundation Women in the Footwear industry (WIFI) group. She currently serves as co-chair of the WIFI mentoring committee, the only industry-specific initiative in the footwear industry designed to facilitate learning and relationships among director-level and executive-level women. Carol’s dedication and focus on helping to connect women across the industry has been instrumental in helping to grow the WIFI mentoring program.
