Now Casting: Fairy Godmothers (and Godfathers)

It’s just a fairy tale right? She dropped a slipper, some handsome fella picked it up, put it on her foot and boom, she lived happily ever after. Oh the remarkable power of shoes!

You know that a new pair of shoes has the power to dramatically change your outlook on life. If you’re reading this, chances are you’re surrounded by them at least eight hours a day and are fully aware of how a nice pair can alter your posture, make you more confident or simply just make you smile.

But life isn’t all fairy tales for thousands of children living in America today who don’t have a single pair of shoes to call their own. With 1 out of 5 children living in poverty in our country, the chances are high that they’re wearing shoes that are used, handed down, too small, too big or worn through the bottom. And the result of wearing those nasty old shoes? Bullying, low self esteem, difficulty learning and, well, forget about playing on the playground. A new pair of shoes is what OTHER kids have. Unless of course, a fairy godmother shows up.

This is where you come in!

Girl measure shoes 300pxThis year during Footwear Cares Month (April, 2016), we’re bringing thousands of footwear employees together throughout the country to help these kids. We’ll hook them up with new shoes and host events, programs and activities that will change their lives – which can also change their communities. That’s how profound your help can be.

Be a part of the movement, and help impact the lives of your smallest neighbors. It’ll remind you of the significance one person can have on the life of another.

Life is full of hurdles, but this might just be the first step towards a happy ending.
