Frequently Asked Questions
1. What’s this gala event all about?
This year, Two Ten Footwear Foundation and 2015 Gala Chair, Jim Issler, President and Chief Executive Officer of H. H. Brown Shoe Co., are excited for this spectacular two-night celebration of our industry supporting and inspiring one another for over 75 years. Two nights means two different events with two audiences at two different venues…which equals more shoepeople involved!
2. Why two nights?
Each year our annual Gala Chair takes a lead role in developing the program and the format – this year, Jim Issler and his team wanted to try something new over the course of two evenings and portray the mission of Two Ten Footwear Foundation and its “pass the hat” spirit of giving in an inspiring and timeless way that heralds our 76 year history. And, of course, to ensure all of our guests have an incredible experience!
3. Who will be going and why should I attend?
The first night is our VIP Dinner & Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, December 1st, at 583 Park Avenue, one of New York City’s most memorable and magnificent event venues. This upscale event for 350 attendees will properly highlight and honor our award recipients who have greatly impacted the Two Ten Footwear Foundation, philanthropy and the footwear industry as a whole. The evening will also include a live auction that will help raise critical monies for shoepeople in crisis.
The party continues on the second night at our 76th Annual Gala Event on Wednesday, December 2nd, at the Hammerstein Ballroom. This gorgeous theatre-style venue is the perfect place for 2,000 footwear professionals to come together for an unforgettable evening coupled with live entertainment — by none other than Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons with additional performances by DJ Chachi — drinks and dancing. This “must attend” industry event is a night of celebration that unifies our industry and raises much needed support and relief to continue Two Ten’s mission of “Shoepeople helping Shoepeople.”
These two nights of giving and entertainment will raise over $3 million for footwear employees and their families. All proceeds go directly to Two Ten Footwear Foundation’s emergency financial assistance, crisis counseling, natural disaster relief and higher education scholarships for footwear families.
4. Where are the two events being held?
The VIP Dinner & Awards Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 583 Park Avenue from 6:30PM to 10:00PM.
The 76th Annual Gala will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Hammerstein Ballroom 7:30PM to 11:00PM.
5. What do I wear?
The VIP event is an elegant, black-tie suggested event.
For the Gala, cocktail attire is appropriate.
6. Who are the leadership awardees for 2015?
This year Two Ten is pleased to honor Vince Camuto (posthumously) of Camuto Group, Debbie Ferree of DSW and Kevin Donahue of Quabaug for their impact on Two Ten, philanthropy and our industry as a whole.
The T. Kenyon Holly Memorial Award will be given to Vince Camuto (posthumously) of Camuto Group. This award, Two Ten’s highest honor for outstanding humanitarian achievement, is presented to an individual in the footwear, leather or allied industries who exemplifies the spirit and character of the late T. Kenyon Holly, past president of Two Ten. Mr. Holly was an individual who was dedicated to helping the less fortunate members of our industry and one who worked quietly, effectively and wholeheartedly in his philanthropic, civic and church affairs. The award is not given to a leader merely for his prestige or accomplishment in the commercial world. Rather, it is for his charitable, civic and public service to his community and nation.
The A.A. Bloom Memorial Award will be given to Debbie Ferree of DSW. This award was created to honor an individual who has given greatly to Two Ten through his or her initiative, hard work, dedication and unselfish actions in the spirit of the late A.A. Bloom, one of the founders of Two Ten. This humanitarian award can be given to someone who has been furthering the case of Two Ten in a very visible fashion, or someone who has worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
The Two Ten Footwear Foundation Social Impact Award will be given for the very first time to Kevin Donahue of Quabaug. This new ‘occasional’ award recognizes an individual or company who/that makes giving back to the community a priority, and has taken extraordinary steps to deepen Two Ten Foundation’s social impact and expand our historic and compassionate ‘pass the hat’ spirit of the footwear community, in order to positively change the lives of footwear employees and their families who need a helping hand. We believe this new recognition gives us a new opportunity to recognize other individuals, and companies, who display a deep affinity with Two Ten’s legacy and champions fresh thinking and philanthropic leadership today, and into the future.
7. Will food be served at the 76th Annual Gala?
Yes. As the event is later than in past years, food will be light hors d’oeuvres perfect to enjoy while mingling. There will also be open bars at this event.
8. Doesn’t the 76th Annual Gala conflict with the FN Achievement Awards?
It does, and while that is unfortunate, we do not anticipate a high percentage of overlap in attendees. For those that would like to attend the Gala after the FN awards, we will be providing free transportation to the Hammerstein Ballroom.
9. What kind of sponsorship opportunities are available?
A wide range of sponsorship opportunities are available that are in-line with what we’ve done in the past – and they encompass tickets to and visibility at both nights – please click here to see our full sponsorship listings. Questions about sponsorships can be directed to Kelli-Beth Vecchione, firstname.lastname@example.org.
