With an outpour of support and determination, Footwear Cares 2015 ended on a high note July 22nd with the team from Sperry at the Greater Boston Food Bank. With strong momentum, Footwear Cares month kicked off April 1st and concluded in a similar fashion, with a grand finale of volunteer events at GBFB.
The teams at Sperry Topsider came out in full force with great energy and enthusiasm taking part in volunteer shifts over a three day period. Those who participated dedicated a combined total of 170 volunteer hours to help provide 27,718 meals to individuals in need through food donation sorts and packaging.
Each year Greater Boston Food Bank provides the average family of four with 4,368 meals throughout the eastern Massachusetts area. Volunteers help to offset $1M in labor costs annually.
“We have always had a long standing relationship with Two Ten and our service projects at the Greater Boston Food Bank only furthers that bond. We are honored to have the opportunity to partner with two outstanding organizations, allowing us to play a very small role in helping support our local community” Said Scott Briggs, SVP Sales Sperry Topsider, and 2015 Footwear Cares Tri-Chair. “Two Ten’s Footwear Cares initiative is a powerful way to galvanize the entire industry in service and we are extremely fortunate to have such a unique support network within the Footwear Industry.”
Many thanks to the teams at Sperry Topsider and Greater Boston Food Bank, for continuing to support the efforts of Footwear Cares, and for demonstrating the importance of giving back as a continuous call to action.
