We know that change is no stranger to the ordinary and many of the most challenging changes that we experience in life occur at work. On October 15th, WIFI hosted Martina Jahrbacher (Reebok), Gillian Meek (Stride Rite Children’s Group), and Sharon Schuler (Clarks Americas) at the Reebok headquarters where the impressive panel addressed navigating change.
The women discussed matters ranging from how to react to a new leader, to how to avoid the rumor mill, and concluded the discussion with personal advice on what has helped them to navigate change. Some valuable advice the panelists agreed on:
• maintain perspective
• seek out mentors who will support and relate to your circumstance
• stay positive
Martina mentioned a personal antidote that she has adopted from the memoir, “The Happiness Project”. She said, “Every day I write down three things that make me happy or feel grateful”, she notes that seeing it on paper has a profound effect for how it influences her mood and outlook. The event encouraged audience engagement and at the end of the evening all event participants were asked to post a one word response to what helps each individual navigate change, we turned it into a pretty inspiring piece of shoe art. See the end product (left).
A special thanks to our sponsors, the Women’s Leadership Group, at Reebok, Rockport and Adidas for helping to make the evening a great success!
